Many of the ideas people have about acne are based on myths. Acne is not caused by eating chocolate or greasy foods, and it’s not just something that teenagers get. Acne is a condition that is caused by hair follicles and pores becoming clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Hormones do play a part in acne outbreaks, which is why teenagers and women are more susceptible, but acne can happen to anyone at any age. Even babies can get acne (though this usually goes away on its own and doesn’t require treatment.) For teens and adults though, treatment is desirable because having acne can make you look and feel miserable.

Acne is a disease that has no cure, but there are numerous ways to fight the appearance of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes. Our medi-spa offers several different treatment services. The best service for your particular case depends on various factors including the severity of your acne and the outcome that you desire.

Preventing & Treating Minor Acne Breakouts

An acne facial can help with minor acne breakouts and help to prevent future breakouts from occurring. During an acne facial you receive a soothing and refreshing facial cleansing with professional products that unclog pores and restore balance to your skin. Because prevention is the best medicine, we recommended scheduling acne facials on a regular basis to prevent breakouts and keep your skin looking its best.

Treating Facial Spots & Marks Leftover from Acne

For a more intense treatment, you might want to opt for microdermabrasion or a light chemical peel. These treatments gently but effectively remove the dead skin cells of the outer layer skin, which then generates new cells and collagen. The result is softer, smoother skin. Microdermabrasion or peels can be combined with a facial for a complete treatment that can remove fine lines, age spots, mild acne and sun damage.

Most of these treatments are quick and have no downtime or recovery time.

Our most intense chemical peel is the TCA peel, which can reduce deep wrinkles and acne scars. This is a 15-minute non-surgical treatment that has a three to five day downtime. For the best results, pre-treatment with weekly light peels for four weeks is recommended.

Treating Acne Scarring

We also offer treatment for deep acne scars with micro-needling. This revolutionary method of healing uses radio frequency to get under the skin and generate the production of new blood vessels and connective tissue, which smoothes out the skin.

Fighting acne and preventing it from coming back involves regular facial cleansing and care. Taking care of your skin daily at home is important to keep it in top condition. Our acne facials and other treatments can be combined with acne medications for best prevention. In some serious cases of acne, treatment with oral medication may be recommended in combination with topical ointments for at-home care.
