The laser is set to penetrate the skin to a controlled depth. It is precise enough to choose how many cells deep the layer will vaporize skin imperfects. For most people, four to five cells deep is optimal for results and recovery.

Depending on the depth needed to reach your beauty goals, you will be given a topical anesthetic. After the procedure, your skin will be restored to a smoother and more even texture. Of course, you may be wondering how long the recovery time is, so we’ll let you know what to expect.

What Is the Healing Time for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

While the procedure is non-invasive and bloodless (meaning it can be performed right here in our practice), there will still be about a month of recovery time in total. There will be some initial redness that will subside within a few days and be replaced by a light pink that can be covered with cosmetics. It may take up to a month for this pinkness to completely subside.

The results of the procedure will depend on many factors, such as the size of the imperfections to be removed, as well as their shape and location. Additionally, your genetics, age, and the general condition of your skin will also play a role. Therefore, you need to be realistic in your expectations, and this will be discussed at your initial consultation.

Some patients find that a second procedure after recovering from the initial procedure is necessary to achieve the optimal results. Again, this will be discussed at your consultation and again following your procedure.
